I started investing in 2012—not as a finance professional, but as someone searching for freedom.

I studied everything I could. And over time, that curiosity turned into results.

I doubled my portfolio every five years.

But after more than a decade, something didn’t sit right.

The problem wasn’t what I owned. It was how I behaved.

I over-concentrated during euphoria.

I chased conviction without clarity.

I let emotions—not principles—drive my decisions.

And it wasn’t the first time. Even as my results improved, I kept repeating the same mistake. The problem wasn’t knowledge. It was self-awareness.

That realization changed everything.

I stepped back, and began examining how my mind actually works.

Once I saw it in my investing, I saw it everywhere—how I made life decisions, how I handled risk, how I reacted under pressure.

That’s when I realized: If I wanted long-term success in my life, I had to design for how I actually think, not how I wish I did.

We’re taught that the market is the enemy. But the real threat isn’t volatility. It’s how we respond to it.

The deeper I looked, the clearer it became: Most investors—myself included—are trying to make long-term decisions with short-term minds.

The mismatch isn’t between you and the market. It’s between your goals and your wiring. At Vold, we believe the most dangerous mismatch in investing is internal—not external.
